Change of mind

Published Mar 19, 2010 in News

Over the past year and a half, we've been busy at work with our games Faeorn and Nextorium. Both projects started with the misconception that making a MMORPG is an easy task.

Games on a scale as large as a MMORPG take a lot of time, code, and often times several attempts to create. Faeorn is a good example of this, as its client has been rewritten about 4 times. Nextorium has also gone through some setbacks, which has led us to switch engines a couple times. At some points it feels like the projects are doomed, but we've never lost hope in either project and continue to work on them diligently.

Because these projects still have quite some time left before either is released, we recently began creating some smaller games which are meant to show that we still care about the small community that follows us.

We also hold a great passion for writing software, which is not limited only to game development. Over the several months we've been working on Faeorn, we've created several small projects that allow us to use them in our other projects and games while gaining experience in the process. Most of these projects are meant to solve very specific problems, like storing game files in a virtual file system or compressing images down to a few hundred bytes. The ability to create these projects allows us to try any ideas that we have, which may in turn help us down the road.

At any rate, we're looking forward to what's to come, and the future looks bright.
